If you are a Windows user and recently switched to Ubuntu, then you may need some time to get familiar with the interface of the Linux-based operating system. As the GUI on Ubuntu is quite different as compared to Windows. But still you can incorporate some of the windows feature to your Ubuntu Operating system such as ‘The taskbar’.
Yes! You can easily add Windows taskbar by using a cool tool named as Tint2. Basically, Tint2 provides a taskbar which somehow resembles Windows taskbar. Just have a glance at this article to find out how to add windows look alike taskbar in Ubuntu 14.04.
Steps to add windows look alike taskbar:
Step 1: First open your terminal by using (Ctrl+ALT+T) key combination and type: “sudo apt-get install tint2” then hit enter.
Step 2: You’ll be prompted to provide your root password. Just type your password and then press enter.
Step 3: Press “Y” when prompted “Do you want to continue [Y/N]”.
Step 4: Now, go to your Unity dash and then type “startup applications”. You’ll see a startup application icon, just click on that icon to open.
Step 5: Now, under ‘Startup Application Preferences’ window, click “Add” button in order to add a new startup program.
Step 6: Here, under ‘Add startup program’ you have to provide program name, command and comment and then click on “Add” button to continue further.
Step 7: Now, as your new startup program is placed in the startup application preference window, click on “close” button as shown in the image below.
Step 8: Finally, after restart your system you’ll be able to see your new taskbar just like Windows operating system.
