Like Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer, Google Chrome does not have any direct options to block a website on the browser itself. There are some websites that might harm or damage your data in the computer. It may be the case that your system is being used by your children or students or employees, and some websites might distract your or their concentration while working on the system. So it would be best if you block those websites. Google Chrome works on the extensions so you have to add an extension that will block a websites on your computer. So let’s start with How to block a website in Google Chrome?
Steps for how to block a website in Google Chrome:
Step 1: Open the Extentions tool in a fresh tab of Google Chrome. You can open Extentions in two ways. First either type chrome://extensions in the URL of tab like I did in the image below.

You can click customise and control Google chrome button (1) that appear in the extreme top most right corner of the tab. It will open a list of options, under More Tools (2) you will find Extensions tab click on it.
Step 2: As soon as Extensions are opened it will show the list of extensions that are installed on your Google Chrome browser. Check for any extension that is used for blocking a website, if not found you can install one by Get more extensions hyperlink that appears at the bottom of the page.
Well, I have an extension used for blocking a website, installed in my Chrome extensions named Block site 3.1.11. Click on the Options button to explore that extension.
Step 3: A new tab will open after you click the Options button of the extension. Under Blocked Sites tab that appears at the left side of the window. You can add the name of the website that you want to block. Like in the image below you can see that Under List of blocked sites I added the name of URL (facebook.com) that I want to block. After adding the URL click on Add page button.
Step 4: Now, you can go to the fresh tab and try to open the website that you just blocked. You will observe the image with the message as you can see in the image below.
Step 5: If you want to redirect the blocked website to any other website, you can enter the name of that website under Redirect to and click Set button.
Step 6: You can also password protect your Extension setting. For that click on the Uninstall Protection tab. Type your password and click on Set Password.
Step 7: Now, if anybody would try to change your Extension setting Window will prompt an Enter your password message, and as the password is with you, he will not be able to change the settings.
