How to block websites in Mozilla Firefox?

If you want to block certain websites on your Mozilla Firefox browser, you have to install an add-on for doing it. You can block as many sites you want. and also provide authentication to the blocked sites. In this article, I have provided the steps for How to block websites in Mozilla Firefox?

Steps to block Websites in Mozilla Firefox:

Step 1: Click on the Tools menu from ribbon and select Add-ons. You can also reach to the Add-ons from Open menu button that appears as three bars to the right corner of Firefox window.

how-to-block-websites-in-mozilla-firefox-step-1Step 2: A new Add-ons Manager tab will be opened. Click on the Add-ons symbol present in the left section of your window. Then you will find all the add-ons installed on your Firefox browser. If you have a Block site add-on already installed on your Firefox browser then click on its Options button and follow step 6, else type Block sites in the search box.

Step 3: List of Add-ons for blocking websites will appear. Select one according to your choice. For demonstration, I have chosen BlockSite add-on. Click the Install button in front of the add-on.

how-to-block-websites-in-mozilla-firefox-step-3Step 4: After the Blocksite add-on is downloaded click on Restart now to get the Block site addon install on your Firefox browser.

how-to-block-websites-in-mozilla-firefox-step-4Step 5: After the Firefox is restarted, again go to the Add-ons Manager tab as illustrated in Step 1. Then click on Add-ons symbol present in the left section of the window. Again you will observe the list of add-ons installed on your browser . This time you will see a Block site add-on too.
Now click on its Options button.

how-to-block-websites-in-mozilla-firefox-step-5Step 6: A BlockSite Preferences window will get opened in the Enable function section mark the checkboxes according to your need. I have Enabled BlockSite, warning messages, link removal and select the blacklist radio button as I want to block the sites that I will list in the blacklist.

You can also provide authentication to blocked sites. For that mark the checkbox of Enable authentication and type the password.

Under Blacklist section Click on Add button to add the sites URL that you want to block.

Add the description if you want and click OK.
