Do you want to learn how you can bold text in WhatsApp chat message? During chatting if you want to highlight some particular text in the message then WhatsApp provides you with many ways to this. You can bold the particular text you want to highlight. WhatsApp also allows you to italicize, strikethrough or monospace the text in the messages. Well, there are two methods to format the text inside your message.
Steps to Bold Text in WhatsApp:
Method 1 of 2 Using Inbuilt Feature
Step 1: Tap on the WhatsApp app on our phone to open the app and in the Chat tab, tap on the person’s name to whom you want to send the message.
Step 2: Tap on the message text box to pop out the keypad.
Step 3: Type a text and tap and hold the text you want to bold in order to select the particular text and then release your finger. You can drag and extend the text selection.
Step 4: As soon as you release your finger from the screen you will get some options to format the text, here you have to click on More options denoted by three horizontal dots as you can see in the image below.
Step 5: In the More options scroll down and you get options to bold, italic, strikethrough and monospace the selected text. Tap on your preferred format and then click on the Send button.

Method 2 of 2 Using Symbols along with the text
- Bold
To bold a particular text in the message, you have to add asterisk symbol before the text and after the text like:
*Morning* -> Morning - Italic
To italic a particular text in the message you have to add underscore symbol before the text and after the text like:
_Morning_ -> Morning - Strikethrough
To strikethrough a particular text in the message you have to add tilde symbol before the text and after the text like:
~Morning~ -> Morning - Monospace
To monospace a particular text in the message you have to add backticks symbol before the text and after the text like:
“`Morning“` -> Morning
