Step 1: Type control panel in the Windows search box and click on the Control Panel from the search result.
Step 2: In the Control Panel window you have to click on System and Security to navigate to the disk management.
Step 3: Under System and Security window scroll down and click on Administrative Tools.
Step 4: Further in administrative tools, you have to click on Computer Management which will pop up a new window Computer Management.
Step 5: In the computer management window on the left side of the window you have a navigation menu where you have to click on Disk Management.
Step 6: At the middle of the computer management window all the existing drive will appear, select the drive whose letter you want to change and right-click on the selected drive. From the displayed options you have to click on ‘Change Drive Letter and Path…’
Note: No file of the selected drive must be opened as would not allow changing the letter of the drive if any of its files are in use.
Step 7: A new window ‘Change Drive Letter and Paths’ will pop up. Here you have to click on the Change… button.
Step 8: Again, a new window ‘Change Drive Letter or Path’ will pop up. Here, you have to click the radio button which let you assign a new letter to the selected drive. Further, click the drop-down button and select the letter that you want to assign to your selected drive.
Step 9: A Disk Management window will pop up which will warn you that the program associated with the drive letter may not run properly. But to assign a new letter to the drive you have to click Yes.
