How to Change your Name (IMAP and POP3) in Outlook 2010

In many situations you might have felt that your display name is not suitable for your account and want to change your name in outlook 2010. When you initially configured your mail account, you would have set up your display name as your first name or some funny nicknames.

But after that you realized that you want to set up your account for some business purpose. You have no choice  but to change your display name the way it appears to other users in their inbox to some formal name or to the firm name.

It is very simple to change your display name with POP3 and IMAP but if you are using Exchange Account, your Exchange server administrator can only change your display name.

Steps to Change Your Name in Outlook 2010 using POP3 and IMAP

Step 1: First of all, open MS Outlook 2010 in your computer and click on “File” tab on the upper left corner of the window.

Step 2: Click the “Info” tab in the left navigation pane. In the center pane, you may find “Account Settings” menu button.

Click the little triangular arrow below it, you may find a drop down menu “Account  Settings”. Click it.

Step 3: Now in “Account Settings” window, select “E-mail” tab. You will have to select the e-mail account to change and click “Change…” menu button.

Step 4: “Change Account” window will open. In the “User Information” area, change the name that other users will see.

Click “Next” to complete the process.

Step 5: You have to wait for the configurations to be completed.

Click “Close” after outlook completes the configuration.

Step 6: Now your name has been changed successfully.

Click “Finish” to close the “Change Account” window.
