How to Change OneDrive Location?

Microsoft’s OneDrive provides the synchronization of your files across the devices over the internet. When you first install the OneDrive on your system by default your OneDrive location is the C drive. Well, you are allowed to change OneDrive location.

In case you want to free up space in the folder where OneDrive is placed you can change the location of your OneDrive. In this section, we will discuss the process of changing the OneDrive location on your system.

Steps to Change OneDrive Location:

Step 1: To change the location of OneDrive first you have to disable the OneDrive on your system. For that click on the OneDrive icon from the taskbar and further click on More.

Step 2: Among the displayed option click on Settings.

Step 3: A Microsoft OneDrive window will pop up, under the Account tab click on ‘Unlink this PC’.

And to unlink the current OneDrive account from the PC click on Unlink account.

Step 4: Now we have to change the location of the OneDrive folder in the PC. Generally, it’s by default location is C:\User\ [username]\ OneDrive. Select the OneDrive folder in the File Explorer.

Steps 5: Selecting the OneDrive Folder to click on the Move to button under Home tab of File Explorer. Move to button will display options to select a new destination folder for OneDrive. If the desired folder is not available in the options then click on Choose location to select the desired folder.

Step 6: A Move Items window appears where you can select the desired location for your OneDrive folder. After selecting the new location click on Move.

In the current example, I have changed the OneDrive location to D drive.

 Step 7: Now open the OneDrive App on your system.

And sign in to your OneDrive account using your login credentials.

Step 8: When you Sign in successfully you can view the current location of OneDrive on your system and just below that you have Change location Option. Click on the Change location to change the OneDrive location.

Step 9: Choose your OneDrive location window will popup and now you have to select the OneDrive folder from the new location you selected in step 6 and on selecting, click on Select Folder button of the window.

Step 10: As we are connecting with the same OneDrive account click on Use this folder button.

Step 11: Now follow the OneDrive instruction and click on Next to complete the process.

At last, when you open your OneDrive folder with the app you can observe that the location of your OneDrive is changed to your desired location.
