Method 1: Control panel
Step 1: Open the Control Panel, under Adjust your computer’s settings, you have a User Accounts icon Click the User Accounts.

I have chosen User 1 as there are no other users on my computer.
Step 3: As soon as you select the account, some options will appear under the heading Make changes to User 1’s account. Among the options click on Change the account name.
Step 4: You will find a text box with the text New account name. Type the new name of the account here and click Change Name.

Method 2: User Accounts
Step 1: Open the Run box, you can search for it in the Windows search box or you can get it directly by pressing Windows + R. To open the User Accounts window type netplwiz in the Run box and click OK.
Step 2: The User Accounts box will open. Under the Users tab, you will find a box Users for this computer. Here, select the user account, of which you want to change the name. For explanation, I have chosen User 1. Click Properties.
Step 3: A dialog box will pop out. In the text box User name and Full name type the new name of the account. Click Apply and OK.
Method 3: Local Users and Groups
Step 1: Open the Run Box, to open Local Users and Groups window, type lusrmgr.msc. Click OK.
Step:2 Local Users and Groups window will open. In the Local Users and Groups column click on the Users folder. In the just next column, list of entries will appear, click the user account name you want to update.
Step 3: In the Actions column, click on More Actions, under the user account name. You will find the Rename option. Click on Rename.
Step 4: Rename your user account.
Method 4: Local Group Policy Editor
Step 1: To open the Local Group Policy Editor. Open the Run box and type gpedit.msc. Click OK.
Step 2: Local Group Policy Editor window will open. Now you have to follow the key given below:
Computer Configuration/Windows Settings/Security Settings/Local Policies/Security Options
Step 3: After following the key given above look at the right pane of the window. Find the following entries:
Account: Rename administrator account
Account: Rename guest account
Choose the category of your account i.e. whether it is Administrator account or a guest account and click on any one of it accordingly.
Step 4: A dialog box will pop out, type the new name for your account in the text box. Click Apply and OK.
Finally, by adopting any one of the four methods, you can change the user account name in Windows 10. Next time when you will boot your computer you will see the updated name of your user account.
