Steps to Change Video Background in PowerDirector:
Step 1: Import a video that you want to keep as a background and place it on Track 1. I have imported a video of the beach as a background video. Now import a second video of which you want to change the background and place it on Track 2. I have selected the earth video which has a black background which I want to change.
Step 2: Now, click and select the clip in Track 2 and click on the Designer drop-down menu as we will require the PiP Designer Window.
From the options displayed you have click on PiP Designer.
Step 3: In PiP Designer window under Properties Tab you have to expand Chroma Key.
Step 4: Enable Chroma Key and click on the dropper and hover it over the video in the preview window to pick the colour that you want to get transparent. I have picked black colour as I want to make a black background of earth video transparent and only let earth visible with the beach background.
Use of Chroma Key in Power Director
The chroma key is used to pick a colour that you want to make transparent and it helps in composting two images or video streams together.
Further, set Chroma key features
- Tolerance of hue: This decides how much difference should be considered between the sample and standard colour.
- Tolerance of saturation: This decides how intense the colour could be.
- Tolerance of luminance: This decides how bright the colour could be.
- Edge sharpness: This decides the intensity of colour at the edges of the object.
Step 5: Now adjust the location of the prop in a second clip over the first clip in the Timeline.
Step 6: Once all the Settings is done click on OK.
And in the video preview window, you can see that task of changing video background is accomplished successfully.
