SSD or HDD which kind of hard drive your system has? Have you ever tried to verify whether your system has SSD or HDD? No, then in this content we will discuss few methods to verify whether the hard drive implemented in your Windows 10 is SSD i.e. solid state drive or HDD i.e. hard disk drive.
Well the HDD was used in earlier systems and they are even used today but they are quite slow when it comes to access. The retrieval rate of HDD is less as compared to SSD. While the SSD is expensive and faster as compared to HDD.
Steps to Check Hard Drive is SSD or HDD in Windows 10:
Method 1 of 3: Using Windows PowerShell
Step 1: Type PowerShell in the Windows search box and from the displayed result click on Windows PowerShell.
Step 2: In the PowerShell windows type the command ‘Get-PhysicalDisk’ and press enter.
Under the ‘Media Type’ you can notice that the hard drive of my system is SSD.
Method 2 of 3: Using Defragment and Optimize Drives
Step 1: Type ‘defrag’ in the Windows search box and you will get a ‘Defragment and Optimize Drives’ app, click on it to open the app.
Step 2: A optimize Drives window will pop up in the status section under Media Type you can observe the kind of hard drive your system has. In the image below, you can clearly notice that my system has SSD i.e. solid state drive.
Method 3 of 3: System Information
Step 1: Open the Run window, you can get it from the Windows search box or you can directly press ‘Windows+R’.
Step 2: In the Run window type the command ‘msinfo32’ and press enter.
Step 3: In the ‘System Information’ window at the navigation panel navigate to Components>Storage>Disks.
Step 4: Now, at the right side of the window under the media type you can notice it is written ‘Fixed hard disk’ with this you can not judge whether the hard drive is SSD or HDD. But under Model, you can get that the hard drive in this system is SSD.
