How to clear Cache in Mozilla Firefox?

Cache is just a temporary file that is stored on your browser which contains the information of whatever you visit, on the websites. It helps in speeding up your browsing. But more number of cache file will decrease the browsing speed. So in this article, I have provided two ways to clear the cache.

The two ways are Clearing the cache Manually and Customising the Clearing of Cache to get the cache automatically cleared up.  So let us start with the steps of How to Clear Cache in Mozilla Firefox?

  1. Clearing the Cache Manually
  2. Customising the Clearing of Cache

Steps to Clear Cache in Mozilla Firefox:


Clearing the Cache Manually:

Step 1: Open your Mozilla Firefox browser and go to the Open Menu button. Then click on the Options button.

how-to-clear-cache-in-mozilla-firefox-step-1Step 2: A new Options tab will get opened in the browser itself. On the left-hand side, there is a preferences bar click on Advanced preference.

how-to-clear-cache-in-mozilla-firefox-step-3Step 4: Under Network category there is a Cache Web Content section, which has a button Clear Now. As you click Clear Now the cache content which is currently 350 MB will be deleted or cleared.

how-to-clear-cache-in-mozilla-firefox-step-4By default setting, you have 350 MB of space for cache content, but you can increase or decrease it by overriding automatic cache management. For that, you have to mark the Override automatic management which will allow you to set the limit of cache space.

Customising the Clearing of Cache:

Step 1: Go to the Open Menu button and click on the Options tab. It will open a new Options tab in the browser window. On the left-hand side, there is a preferences bar, click on the Privacy preference.

how-to-clear-cache-in-mozilla-firefox-step-01Step 2: Under Privacy preference in History section there is a Firefox will: dropdown box. Click on that drop down box and choose Use custom setting for History.

how-to-clear-cache-in-mozilla-firefox-step-02Step 3: Among the options provided under, Use custom setting for history, unmark Always use private browsing mode to customise the setting. It will ask you to restart Firefox, allow it.

Step 4: When Firefox browser restarts then again come back to Privacy preferences. Then under History section again choose Use custom setting for history.

Mark Clear history when Firefox closes and then click on the button Settings.

how-to-clear-cache-in-mozilla-firefox-step-04Step 5: A Settings for Clearing History will pop up. Mark the kind of history that you want to clear up when you close your browser. Like I marked only Cache History. You can choose according to your need. Click OK.
