Do you want your Unity Launcher at the bottom of your screen?. Great, As you all know that, by default Unity launcher is locked on the left side of the computer screen in Ubuntu. But by using some simple tools you can easily change its location from left side to the bottom of your screen.
Unity Tweak and Cairo Dock are the tools that help you to show the Unity launcher at the bottom of your screen. However, the Unity Launcher was still on the left side of the screen, but you can hide it using a unity tweak tool. Just have a glance at this article to find out how to convert the unity launcher into a Dock-Style launcher inĀ Ubuntu 14.04.
Following are the steps to convert the unity launcher into a Dock-Style launcher.
Step 1: First go to the Unity bar and click “Ubuntu Software Center”.
Step 2: Under ‘Ubuntu Software Center’ search bar type “Unity Tweak”. You’ll see Unity Tweak Tool, just click on ‘Install’ button as shown in the image below.
Step 3: Then the installer will ask you to provide Ubuntu password, just type the password and press ‘Authenticate’ button.
Step 4: Now again in the Ubuntu Software Center search bar type ‘Cairo’. You’ll see Cairo Dock, click on ‘install’ button in order to add this tool.
Step 5: Now, go to the Unity bar and click Unity Tweak tool icon.
Step 6: Under Unity tweak tool, you may see “Launcher” tab, click on it to open.
Step 7: Now under ‘Launcher’ you’ll see Auto-hide slide bar in the ‘behaviour’ option. Just switch ‘On’ that slide bar and close that window.
Step 8: Now again go to ‘Unity bar’ and click “Cairo Dock” icon.
Step 9: As soon as you open “Cairo Dock” you’ll see a your Unity Launcher is now converted to Dock style launcher as shown in the image below.

Hello Nithya,
You can go to System Settings > Appearance > Behavior and turn on autohide, then set or scroll sensitivity to zero and close the setting window. Now, you can easily work with your dock style launcher.(Note: use “window key” if you want unity launcher back).
