A password protected PDF file is created to ensure that only the authorized users can view or edit it. There is no rocket science involved in doing so, you can easily create a password protected PDF file by performing any of the two methods as explained below.
The first method is a trial version available online and the second is by the use of Adobe Acrobat.

Method 1 of 2:

Step 1: Go to the website http://online2pdf.com/.
Step 2: Click on “Select Files” option.
Step 3: Then click on “Protection” available under the Preferences category.
Step 4: To create a password put check mark on “Create password for opening” and set the password of your choice.
Step 5: Click on “Convert”.
Step 6: “Task Finished” message may appear which means your file is converted and it is secured.

Method 2 of 2:
Using the Adobe Acrobat Pro:
Step 1: Open the pdf file if you had created and if not, then you can create it with Adobe Acrobat Pro.
Step 2: Go to “Tools” option.
Step 3: Click on “Protection” panel and go to “Encrypt”.
Step 4: Then various options will appear click on “Encrypt with Password”.
Step 5: A dialog box will appear, click on “Yes”.
Step 6: Password Security-Settings window will open. Put check mark on “Require a password to open the document” then type the password. Click on “OK”.
Step 7: Once you finish these steps, make sure to “Save the file”.
