Creating a non-editable (Read-Only) PDF file is not much strenuous task as it looks like. People may create these pdf because of the following reasons:
- If it is an Agreement
- A Notification for the recruitment
- Vital information
- Facts and figures
So, you can create a password to prevent any unauthorized access that could damage the pdf. Only the person who knows the password can read and make the changes, if required.
You can do this by the use of Adobe Acrobat, whose trial version can be downloaded from online, if do not exist in your system.
Steps to Create Non-editable (Read-Only) PDF file
Step 1: Open the pdf file if you had created and if not you can create it with Adobe Acrobat Pro.
Step 2: Go to “Tools” option.
Step 3: Click on “Protection” panel and go to “Encrypt”.
Step 4: Then various options will appear click on “Encrypt with Password”.
Step 5: A dialog box will appear, click on “Yes”.
Step 6: Password Security-Settings window will open. Put check mark on “Require a password to open the document” then type the password.
This step is required when you only want to allow people who have password to open the document otherwise follow the next one.
Step 7: Go to “Permissions”, under this you can put check mark on “Restrict editing and printing of the document” and you can set password for the screen reader devices, and then press “OK”.
Step 8: In the dialog box, type the password again to open the document.
Step 9: A dialog box will appear simply click on “OK”.
Step 10: You have to insert Permissions Password in the dialog box then click on “OK”.
Step 11: Once you finish these steps, make sure to “Save the file”.
