Steps to Crop and Zoom Video in Power Director:
Step 1: To activate the crop and zoom tool you have first select the video clip on your timeline on which you want to perform crop and zoom action.
Step 2: Once the tools above the timeline are activated click on the Tools drop-down button and select ‘Power Tools’ from the displayed options.
Step 3: Now from the Power Tools option you have to check on ‘Crop & Zoom’ which will display a ‘Crop/Zoom’ button as you can see in the image below. Click on Crop/Zoom button.
This will open a Crop/Zoom window that has the best tools and features to perform crop and zoom on the selected video.
Let us discuss the tools provided in the Crop/Zoom window.
The diamond shape icons at the bottom of the window are the keyframe button that helps you in managing the keyframes. Keyframes are nothing but the start and stop marker that initiates and stops the zoom and crop action on produced video.
- It selects the previous keyframe.
- It removes the selected keyframe.
- This button adds a new keyframe.
- This button duplicates the previous or next keyframe according to your choice.
- It selects the next keyframe.
- It helps you in managing the zoom percentage of the produced video.
Step 4: Now in the Crop/Zoom window, drag the play head to a position from where you want to ‘zoom in’ the video, it will automatically activate the ‘Add keyframe’ button. Click on the ‘Add keyframe’ button.
Step 5: Now you can see that the ‘crop frame’ is appearing on the preview window. You can crop the window by dragging the crop points. You can also adjust the location of the cropped window by dragging the window from its centre. You can track this adjustment as when you drag the cropped window it leaves a green tracing line as you can see in the image below.
You can add multiple keyframes to your video to let happen it in a way you want.
Step 6: Once you are done with crop and zoom, paly and view your video to confirm that it does not require further editing. At the right side of the window, you can adjust the aspect ratio. And when you are happy with it click on OK.
You can also get the crop frame in the preview window of power director if you select the video in your timeline.
