The WordPress gives you the facility to create blogs and simple websites. Sometimes you don’t want people to comment on it, if your site is newly launched or something else. Nowadays, many unauthorized and spam messages appears in the site, so to prohibit this kind of activity you may Disable the Comments.
In WordPress, by default the comments option is enabled so to restrict anyone to comment on your posts or page you can easily customize the settings. You can disable comments in WordPress Blog or page by using any one of the steps mentioned below according to your convenience.
Steps to Disable Comments in WordPress or Page
Method 1 of 4:
To Disable Comments on all articles from now:
Step 1: On your Dashboard in the WordPress editor you will see the “Settings” option click on it as shown in the image below.
Step 2: Then click on “Discussion”, to go to the Discussion settings.
Step 3: You will see the Default Article Settings then Uncheck on ” Allow people to post comments on new articles”.
Step 4: In Other comment settings you may also Uncheck all the options if you want.
Step 5: To Save it, scroll down and click on “Save Changes”.
Method 2 of 4:
To Disable Comments on a Particular Post:
Step 1: Click the post for which you want to disable the comment, and then scroll down where you will find the Discussion Panel.
Step 2: Uncheck on “Allow Comments”
Step 3: Optionally you can uncheck “Allow trackbacks and pingbacks on this page”
Step 4: Click on “Update” to apply the changes, you have made.
Method 3 of 4:
To Disable Comments on Selected or all Posts:
Step 1: Click on Post, then select “all Posts” option.
Step 2: Here I have selected all the posts, but you can also choose some of them.
Step 3: On the top you will see the “Bulk Edit” option, choose “Edit” from the drop down list.
Step 4: Besides the Edit “Apply” option is shown, click on it.
Various options are available inside it go to the Comments and select “Do not Allow”.
Step 5: Click on Update option to make the changes.
Method 4 of 4:
To Disable Comments only from Pages (not on Posts):
Step 1: On Dashboard select the“Appearance” option shown on the right side, and then click on “Editor”
Step 2: On the top right side “Templates” are given, scroll down and click on the “Page Template”.
Step 3: Under this “page.php”, you will see “<?php comments_template(); ?>” remove this code.
Step 4: Then click on “Update File”.
