You can download files/folders from dropbox site dropbox.com to your computer. But you can not download a folder that is over 1GB or which has 10,000 files. In that case, you have to download it from the Dropbox desktop application. If the folder you want to download is already synchronized to your computer’s local Dropbox folder, then you will see an Open button on selecting that folder/file instead of Download button. So let us start with the steps for How to download files/folders from Dropbox?
Steps to download files/folders from Dropbox:
Step 1: First log in to your Dropbox account using your credentials.
Step 2: Now, select the folder that you want to download. If you click on the folder’s/file’s name, then it will open the folder or file. So, for selecting the file/folder click on the empty space at the right of folder’s name.
Soon as you will select a single folder the Download button will appear on the top of all the folder present in your Dropbox. Selecting all the folder/files that you want to download, click on the Download button.
Step 3: A dialog box, Opening Dropbox.zip will pop up. To save the file on your computer, click on Save File radio button and click OK.
Step 4: After the file is downloaded, you can find it in the Downloads folder of your computer or Library of your browser. All your files will be downloaded in a single folder i.e. Dropbox.zip. Double click on the Dropbox.zip folder to open it.
Step 5: Select all the files inside the Dropbox.zip folder and click on the Extract all files button.
Step 6: Dialog box, Extract Compressed(Zipped) Folders will pop up.
Using Browse button select the location where you want to extract all the folders. As you will click Browse button, Select a destination folder will open from there select the location where you want to extract all the downloaded folders/files and click OK. I have selected Desktop to extract my downloaded files and folder.
Finally, click onĀ Extract button.
