Some people prefer to use keyboard most of the time, using keyboard shortcuts in Gmail might be very useful for them to access their favorite email client through the keyboard. Just have a glance at this article to know how to enable and configure Gmail keyboard shortcuts.
Steps to enable and configure Gmail keyboard shortcuts:
Step 1: First login to your Gmail account by providing your email address and password.
Step 2: Now go to “Gmail Settings”, by clicking on the gear icon which is at the top right corner of your screen.
Step 3: On the “General” tab, just scroll down a little bit to find keyboard shortcuts option. By default, it is disabled and you need to enable it and then click on the “Save Changes” button.
Step 4: Now, move to other Gmail settings tab, i.e., “Labs” tab as shown in the image below.
Step 5: Now, inside the Gmail Labs, you may see a search box “Search for a lab”. Just type “Keyboard” in that search bar and then hit enter. You may also see a “Custom keyboard shortcuts” widget in your search results. (Note: By default Custom keyboard shortcut is disabled )
Step 6: You just need to click on “Enable” checkbox button to enable custom keyboard shortcuts in Gmail and then click on “Save Changes” button.
Step 7: Now, you may see one more tab under settings, and that is “Keyboard Shortcuts.” Just click on that tab to configure Gmail keyboard shortcuts.
Here, you may see three columns, namely Action, keys where you have to provide shortcuts according to your wish.
Step 8: After you’re done with your changes, then you may click on “Save Changes” button to modify your changes. (Note: If you want to revert your changes back to normal, then click on “Restore Defaults” option)
Now, you can enjoy operating your favorite email by using keyboard shortcuts.
