How to enable imap and pop in gmail

Do you want to enable IMAP and pop in Gmail?. Great, but first you must need to know what is the meaning of imap and pop?.

What is IMAP?

Basically, IMAP stands for Internet message access protocol, which is used to access your emails from your local server. By using IMAP can read your emails without downloading it. This means that you can access your emails from anywhere and from any device.

What is POP?

Basically, POP stands for Post Office Protocol, which is used to transfer your message from email server to your local server. POP3 is the latest version of the post office protocol.

Steps to enable IMAP and pop in Gmail:

Step 1: First login to your Gmail account by using your gmail id and then click on “Next” button to continue.

Step 2: Now, click on “Sign in” button after entering your password.

Step 3: Now, go to gear icon which is at the top right corner of your screen and then click on down triangle to open a drop down. Select “Settings” option from that drop down.

Step 4: Now, under ‘Settings’ option, go to “Filters and Blocked Addresses” tab.

Step 5: Inside “Filters and Blocked Addresses” tab, you’ll see “POP Download” and “IMAP Access”, just click on “Enable POP for all mail” and “Enable IMAP” radio button and then click on “Save Changes” button as shown in the image below.

Step 6: After that, you’ll see an “IMAP enabled and POP enabled” message in green text color as shown below.
