Are you trying to fade out music or audio in PowerDirector? Well, you must have gone through several videos where you can hear the speaker in the video and also soothing music in the video’s background.
Power director provides you with the audio ducking feature which allows you to optimize the audio mix in the video. This fades the background music where the video has some dialogue or narration. In this section, we will discuss the steps to fade out music or audio in PowerDirector.
Steps to Fade Out Music or Audio in PowerDirector:
Step 1: Import your basic video and a background music file which we will fade out in later steps.
Step 2: Right-click on the music file and from the displayed options you have to click on ‘Edit Audio’.
Edit Audio will display some extended options from which you have to click on ‘Audio Ducking’.
Or
Select the music file that you want to fade out and click on the Tools drop-down menu.
From the displayed options you have to click on ‘Audio Ducking‘.
Step 3: An ‘Audio Ducking’ window will prompt. Audio ducking is used to lower the background music whenever the person in the basic video speaks and raises the volume of background music when the speaker in the video is silent.
In the Audio ducking Window you have some control functions let us discuss them one by one.
- Sensitivity: Determines the volume of dialogue/narration in the other clip.
- Ducking level: It decides how much you want to fade the volume of the selected clip. More the level you increase lower will be the volume of the selected clip.
- Fade-out duration: Here you can decide in what duration the music of the selected clip will fade out. If you raise the duration more will the time it will take to fade out.
- Fade-in duration: Here you can decide in what duration the music of selected will fade in. If you raise the duration more will be the time it will take to fade in.
Adjust all the controls in ‘Audio Ducking’ window and if you want to apply the settings to all the clips in the same track then check the check box at the bottom of the window and finally click on OK.
Now you can observe that when the speaker in the video is speaking, the background music has faded out and when the speaker is silent then the volume of the music clip has faded in.
In case you do not want to perform audio ducking but still want mild music in the background then you can drag the volume down of the music clip as you can see in the image below. In this method, the background music will play at a constant volume. There will be no rise and fall in the volume of background music when the speaker in the video is silent or speaks.
In this way, you can fade out music or audio in Power Director. Hope you find the video useful. Keep reading.
