Are you trying to free up space in Windows 10 system? Well nowadays you can have multiple gigabytes of hard drives for your system but it doesn’t take much time to fill it up with your documents, pictures, videos, apps, games etc. So, must know the method to free up the space in Windows 10 system.

Steps to Free Up Space in Windows 10:
Step 1: Open the recycle bin in the file explorer and from the menu ribbon click on Recycle Bin Tools tab.
Step 2: Under Recycle Bin Tools tab you click on ‘Empty Recycle Bin’.
Before deleting the file in recycle bin it will prompt a confirmation message so click on ‘Yes’.
Step 1: Open the Settings window on your screen and click on System.
Step 2: Under the System Settings window in the navigation pane at the left side of the window you have to click on Storage.
Step 3: Under the Storage section switch on the Storage Sense toggle button and it will automatically start freeing up the space by deleting the unwanted file such as temporary files and the content in recycle bin.
You can even configure the duration when you want the run the Storage Sense. For you have to click on “Configure Storage Sense or run it now”.
Now click on the Run Storage Sense drop-down button to explore the menu and select the duration at which you want the Storage Sense to run, as I have scheduled it to run when the free space in the disk is low.
You can even schedule when the temporary files such as files in recycle bin and files in the download folder must be deleted.
With the settings on this page, you can free up the space on the hard disk by clicking on the Clean now button.
Method 3: Uninstalling Unused Apps
Step 1: Open the Control Panel on your screen and click on Uninstall a program.
Step 2: Now search for the apps that you have not used for a long time and that is not even required in future and click on it.
As soon as you will select the app from the list it will activate the Uninstall button at the top. Click on Uninstall button and repeat the process until you have uninstalled all the non-essential apps.
Step 1: Search open the Disk Clean Up app and in the Disk CleanUp window select drive C and click on OK.
Step 2: In the Files to delete a section you have to select all the files and click on OK.
A confirmation message will pop out where you have to click on Delete Files to free up the space in drive C which carries most of the temporary files.
Method 5: Move the Content to External Drive
Step 1: Open the File Explorer and select the files or folders that are taking a lot of space on the hard disk. Once selected go to the Home tab of the window and click on Move to the drop-down menu and from the provided options click on Choose Location. Select the external drive where you have to relocate the selected files and folders.
Method 6: Disabling the Hibernation Mode
In our earlier content, we have learnt to enable and disable the hibernate mode. When hibernation mode is on the system saves the data in the main memory onto the system in order to save the current session going on.
Although it is a beneficial feature it takes several gigabytes of space. So, you can switch the hibernation mode of your system.
Step 1: Open the Command Prompt window as an administrator and type the command:
powercfg /hibernate off
And this will disable the hibernate mode.
