How to install IIS on Windows 10

Do you want to install IIS on Windows 10? First, you must be aware of what is this IIS and what its use? IIS is Internet Information Services which is an extended web server by Microsoft. IIS is helpful in providing the interactive user interface.

Installing IIS is important when you are working on web development and web designing. IIS is a Windows feature which is freely available on Windows 10 operating system. In this section, we will be discussing the steps to install IIS on Windows 10.

Steps to Install IIS on Windows 10:

Step 1: On the ‘Search here’ box of Windows 10 type ‘Control Panel’ and click on the respective app.

Step 2: In the Control Panel you have to click on ‘Uninstall a program’.

Step 3: In the Programs and Features you have to click on ‘Turn Windows features on or off’.

Step 4: A new window ‘Windows Features’ will pop up where you have to check the ‘Internet Information Services’ checkbox. If you require you can explore the corresponding checkbox and only check the required features.

By simply checking ‘Internet Information services’ you by default install all the features. After selecting the required feature click on OK.

Step 5: You will observe that there starts the searching for the required files and then the changes will be applied.

Step 6: After the changes are implemented you can view a message that the requested changes are completed by Windows. Click on Close to end the process.

Step 7: To ensure that that the IIS is installed on your Windows 10 operating system you can perform a test.

Open your web browser and type ‘localhost’ in the address bar of the web browser and press Enter. You must see the following interface as you can see in the image below:
