Steps to securely password protect an excel file:
Step 1: First, you need to open your Microsoft Excel file and then you need to traverse to the “Review” tab.
Step 2: In the next step, you need to click on the “Protect Sheet” button, as marked in the image below.
Step 3: Now, you need to provide a unique password below the Password to unprotect sheet text box and then click on the “OK” button.
Step 4: You need to re-enter your password when prompt. Always remember that if you lost your password, then you’ll not be able to recover it. (Note: Password is case – sensitive)
Step 5: Now, click on the Microsoft Office icon and then click on the “Save As” option to save your Excel workbook.
Step 6: While saving your excel file, always keep in mind to select “General Options” in Tools drop down. Your Tools option lies beside the “Save” option.
Step 7: Under General options, you need to set your password to open an Excel sheet and a password to modify your excel sheet and then click on the “OK” button.
Step 8: Now, go to your download folder, where you’ve saved this file. Just, click on that file to open and you may see the following output as shown in the image below.
Hence, your excel sheet is now password protected.
