How to Show Hidden Files in Windows 10?

Do you want to show hidden files in Windows 10? In case you are not the only user of your system, there may be some hidden files and folder on your system. The user hides files and folders if they are important and they don’t want an unauthorized user to view it.

Some files and folder are kept hidden as changes in them may damage the working of your system. The hidden files or folder do not appear when they are searched or if someone is exploring. But they are present in the system.

Steps to Show Hidden Files in Windows 10:

Method 1 of 2: Using File Explorer

Step 1: Search for the File Explorer in Windows 10 search box and click on it to open the File Explorer.

Step 2: A File Explorer window will get opened, here you have to click on the ‘View’ tab.

Step 3: Under the View tab and in ‘Show/hide’ group you have to check the checkbox ‘Hidden items’, it will immediately start showing all the hidden files and folders.

Method 2 of 2: Using Control Panel

Step 1: Search for the control panel in Windows 10 search box and open it.

Step 2: In the control panel window you have to click on ‘Appearance and Personalization’.

Step 3: Under Appearance and Personalization you have to click on File Explorer Options.

Step 4: A new ‘File Explorer Options’ window will pop up where you have to go to the View tab.

Step 5: Under the View tab you have the Advanced Settings section. Under the Hidden files and folders, you have to click the radio button ‘Show hidden files, folders and drives’.

Step 6: To apply the changes you have to click Apply button and then you have to click on OK.

It will unhide all the hidden files and folders.
