Everyone must be familiar with the random notification pop-ups appearing time to time on their computer screens. Whenever an application wants to seek your attention in order to let you know about some change, update or anything, it displays a notification.
Usually, the notifications appear on the bottom right corner of your screen. These notification pop-ups are visible on the screen for a short period of 5-6 seconds and eventually they disappear themselves. However, you can also dismiss them as well.
Windows 10 provides an Action Center which is like a panel for notifications and quick actions. The icon of the action center is present on the right-most corner of the taskbar.
This icon of Action Center gets filled with the white color as soon as a notification arrives, along with a number badge to show the number of notifications.
Though these notifications are helpful, sometimes they just distract you, and the work going on with full concentration may get affected. In such conditions, it would be a vice decision to turn off the notifications to avoid this disturbance. Go through this article to find out how to turn off the notifications in Windows 10.
Steps to Turn Off Notifications in Windows 10
Step 1: Open Windows Settings.
You can use the Start menu to open the Settings.
Windows 10 allows you to find different settings in the system easily as it has created nine categories, each dedicated to a particular area like System, Device, Privacy etc. Every category shows its subcategories so that you can identify where you will find a particular setting.
Step 2: Select System.
In the System settings, the left-pane contains a number of sub-settings like Display, Apps & features, Storage etc.
Step 3: Click on Notifications & actions from the left-pane.
Here, you will get three sub-headings:
- Quick actions: Under this heading, you can add, remove and rearrange the quick actions which appear in the action center.
- Notifications: There are five toggle switches here, each for a different type of notification like notifications coming from apps, notifications displayed on the lock screen, pop-ups for alarms, VoIP calls, tips & suggestions etc.
Switching off the toggle button will stop the respective notifications from popping up on the screen.
- Get notifications from these senders: A list of applications is given under this heading with toggle button in front of each app. This feature allows you to turn off the notifications from a specific sender i.e an app.
Step 4: Turn off the toggle switches as per your requirement.
In this way, you can easily turn off the notifications in Windows 10 to get rid of the notification pop-ups.
