If you are a kind of workaholic person who tends to run more than one application at the same time, then this post might be very useful for you. Here, we are discussing the workspace feature of Ubuntu, which is one of the major advantages of Ubuntu over Mac and Windows. Though Windows new version, i.e. Windows 10 is now equipped with workspace feature.
In Ubuntu you can use two methods to switch your workspace, one is to click on the workspace icon which is at the bottom left corner of your screen and another one is to press (Super + s) key, or you can say (Windows key + s). Steps to use more than one workspace:
Step 1: First open your terminal and the type: “sudo apt-add-repository ppa:tualatrix/ppa” and then press enter.
Step 2: After that, type “sudo apt-get update” and hit enter.
Step 3: Now, type: “sudo apt-get install Ubuntu-tweak” in order to install Ubuntu tweak tool.
Step 4: After ‘Ubuntu tweak tool’ installation, ‘go to your unity dash and type “tweak”. You will see an Ubuntu Tweak icon, just click on that to open.
Step 5: Under Ubuntu tweak window go to “Tweaks” tab, as shown in the image below.
Step 6: Under ‘Tweaks’ tab, choose “Workspace” option as marked in the image below.
Step 7: Now, under workspace you may see two options, one is Horizontal workspace, and another one is vertical workspace. Here, you can configure your workspace number by setting the horizontal and vertical workspace.
Step 8: By default horizontal and vertical workspace is set to 2 that is why we are having two horizontal workspaces and two vertical workspaces here.
Note: Use “Window+s” key combination to toggle your workspace.
