Do you want to prioritize your messages in Gmail?. Fine, Gmail comes with the brand new feature named as priority inbox, which helps to sort emails according to your importance and relevancy.
Basically, priority inbox is used to prevent against email overloading when a large chunk of irrelevant emails overloaded your inbox and you have to find out the important one. Just have a glance at this article to know how to use priority inbox in Gmail.
Steps to use priority inbox in Gmail:
Step 1: First open “www.gmail.com” in your browser, you’ll see the following window as shown in the image below. Just enter your email address and then click on “Next” button.
Step 2: Now, type your Gmail password and then click on “Sign in” button.
Step 3: It will take a while to load your Gmail dashboard. Inside your dashboard, you’ll see a drop-down button below ‘compose button.’ Just click on that button and select “Priority Inbox” option. (Note: Gmail takes some time to open priority inbox)
Step 4: Inside “Priority Inbox” window you’ll see your message sorted accordingly. The first part is “important and unread”, next is “Starred” and last part contains all the left emails.
Step 6: Here, you can use “Star” option to mark the importance of that email. Always remember that a star message is having high priority over non-starred mails.
Step 7: Now, go to your settings by clicking on gear icon which is at the top right corner of your screen.
Step 8: Under Settings, go to inbox tab where you’ll see inbox type and inbox sections.
Step 9: Now, click on “Options” link which is beside “Important and unread” section. Here, you’ll see various options to customize your inbox like hide section when empty, importance of messages and the number of messages shown to you, etc.
Step 10: Just make your changes according to your wish and then select “Default” from the Inbox type’s drop down as shown in the image below. This will save your changes.
